2-1-1 is an easy to remember telephone number that, where available, connects people with important community services and volunteer opportunities. In 2013, 2-1-1 services in the United States answered more than 15.6 million calls. The implementation of 2-1-1 is spearheaded by United Ways and information and referral agencies in states and local communities.

2-1-1 in Otero and Lincoln counties is available Monday-Friday 9am-4pm through the local United Way office

We provide callers with information and referrals on the following subjects;

  • Basic human needs; food pantries and community dinners, clothing, rent assistance, or utility assistance
  • Physical and mental health resources; medical information lines, crisis intervention lines, support groups, counseling, drug and alcohol intervention and rehabilitation
  • Older Americans and Persons with Disabilities; adult day care, congregate meals, Meals on Wheels, respite care, home health care, transportation, homemaker services
  • Support for Children, Youth and Families; childcare, after school programs, Head Start, family resource centers, summer camps and recreation programs, mentoring, tutoring, protective services
  • Veterans; VSO’s, VA clinic, homelessness
